Demolition and excavation are highly regarded as two of the most dangerous construction trades.
We have a deep respect for our trade and we believe that safety on the job site is a major contributing factor to the success of any construction project regardless of scale. At Zephyr Developers Corp. we believe that the safety of our team members, our fellow construction workers, and the safety of our customers’ property is our absolute first priority. Over the years we have developed a safety protocol that maximizes safety, without sacrificing output and efficiency.
Some of the safety measures practices by all Zephyr Developers team members are:
- OSHA compliance seminars- all of our team members are required to attend OSHA safety courses and training as required to maintain our compliance status.
- Worker’s Comp seminars- our foremen and supervisors attend online worker’s comp seminars on a variety of trade related topics.
- Toolbox/ tailgate meetings- weekly 10-15 minute on-the job safety meetings. Such meetings intend to reduce the risk of harm by keeping our team members informed on current safety measures, work environment, or quality concerns.
- Safety gear- proper attire and safety gear are mandatory for all of our on site personnel. Hard hats, steel toe boots, safety vest, and eye/ear protection are to be worn at all times. Fire extinguishers and first aid kits are always available and visible on site.
- Daily equipment inspections- Faulty or unmaintained equipment is one of the leading causes of accidents on construction sites. To minimize such occurrences, our team members perform daily equipment inspections in order to maintain all equipment in a safe working condition. If any issues detected are reported to on site supervisor and are addressed immediately. All scheduled maintenance is performed on time as required by manufacturer.
- Technology- all of our equipment is equipped with top of the line cameras that provide a 360° view and maximum visibility from the operating cab. Additionally, all units are equipment with backup/movement alarms, that alert crew members and fellow workers of heavy equipment movement in close proximity.
- DigAlert and utility line disconnection- unmarked underground utility lines are always a concern when performing a demolition or excavation project. We always obtain clearance from DigAlert, SoCal’s underground utility detection service before the start of any project. Any detected utilities will be disconnected and capped to avoid potential damages and costly repairs.
- Insurance- We maintain general liability, worker’s compensation, and commercial automotive insurance policies as required by law. We will provide proof of insurance and a certificate of additional insured before the beginning of works.
